Wellbeing Courses Show Promising Impact

This year, the Trinity Project delivered three Haven wellbeing courses through Tennis in Mind. Tennis in mind is our afterschool club run in partnership with Get Set 4 Tennis. It is aimed at supporting young people’s mental and emotional health. A total of 17 students took part, each completing a simple pre- and post-course questionnaire to help track how they were feeling over time.

The results were really encouraging. 12 of the 17 students (70.6%) showed improvement in their overall wellbeing scores, with some making big shifts – for example, one student’s score reduced from 14 to 1, and another from 9 to 0, out of a possible 44. In terms of general wellbeing, which students scored out of 10, over half (52.9%) showed improvement. One student went from 9 to 1, another from 4 to 1.

While these scores give us a helpful snapshot, they don’t tell the whole story. We know that self-awareness often grows during the course, which can lead to students answering more honestly over time. One student’s score increased from 13 to 19 – which on paper looks like a step backwards – but in practice, they became more open about how they were feeling and more equipped to handle anxious situations in real life.

The Trinity Project exists to journey with young people as they explore anxiety, identity and wellbeing. Through mentoring, creative programmes, and group courses like Haven, we create safe spaces where young people can be heard, supported and empowered. Whether it's helping them process anxiety, explore big questions about life, or grow in confidence, we’re passionate about seeing young people thrive.

As we continue to learn and grow in how we support young people, we’ll also be asking for more regular input from teachers. Their observations will help us see the full picture by answering questions like: Have you noticed a change in the student’s confidence? Are they more willing to engage with others? Are they better at managing their emotions or asking for help when needed?

The Trinity Project remains committed to walking alongside young people as they grow in resilience, identity, and hope for the future.
